Overview of Electric Butterfly Valves

Electric butterfly valves use circular butterfly plates as the opening and closing components, rotating with the valve stem to open, close, and regulate fluid flow. The butterfly plate is positioned in the pipeline’s diameter direction and rotates between 0° and 90°. When rotated to 90°, the valve is fully open.

Electric butterfly valves have a simple structure, are compact, lightweight, consume less material, and require small installation space.
They offer fast opening and closing through a 90° reciprocating rotation and have low driving torque.

Minimal Pressure Drop

In the fully open position, the butterfly plate’s thickness is the only resistance to the medium flowing through the valve body, resulting in a minimal pressure drop. This feature gives electric butterfly valves excellent flow control capabilities.

Sealing Types: Elastic and Metal

There are two primary sealing types for electric butterfly valves: elastic sealing and metal sealing.

Elastic Sealing: The sealing ring is either embedded in the valve body or attached around the butterfly plate.

Metal Sealing: Valves with metal seals tend to have a longer lifespan than those with elastic seals but may not achieve complete sealing. Metal seals can withstand higher temperatures, while elastic seals are restricted by temperature limits.

Choosing the correct size and type of butterfly valve is crucial for flow control applications. Due to their structural design, butterfly valves are particularly well-suited for large-diameter valves.

Common Types of Electric Butterfly Valves

Electric Clamp Butterfly Valves: Connected between two pipeline flanges using double-headed bolts.
Electric Flange Butterfly Valves: Equipped with flanges and connected to pipeline flanges at both ends with bolts.
Electric Butt Welded Butterfly Valves: The two end faces of this valve are welded to the pipeline for a secure connection.
